Dance Education
My dance journey started at Academia Roda Viva in Barra Bonita, São Paulo, my hometown, where I trained from 2003 to 2006. After that, I spent a year at the School of the Bolshoi Theater in Brazil, in Joinville, Santa Catarina. To round out my training, I studied at the Conservatório Brasileiro de Dança in Rio de Janeiro from 2008 to 2009.
Professional Experience
My professional career kicked off with Companhia Brasileira de Ballet, where I danced from 2009 to 2012. During that time, I performed leading roles in classics like Swan Lake, Giselle, and Don Quixote. I also had the opportunity to tour and be part of performances around the world. I danced at the Karmiel Dance Festival in Israel in 2012 and the Beijing International Ballet Gala in 2010, both of which were incredible experiences. I’ve also had the chance to perform alongside some great artists in productions like Don Quixote in Miami and The Nutcracker in São Paulo.
In 2013, I joined São Paulo Companhia de Dança, where I danced in pieces by renowned choreographers such as Nacho Duato (Gnawa and Por Vos Muero) and Jirí Kylián (Petite Mort). After that, I spent a year with Companhia de Dança Deborah Colker in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2015, I moved to Germany and joined Ballett im Revier in Gelsenkirchen, where I spent four years. Highlights of my time there include dancing as Mercutio in Bridget Breiner’s Romeo and Juliet, the title role in Cathy Marston’s Hamlet, and performing in Jirí Kylián’s Indigo Rose. I also had the pleasure of working on A Sweet Spell of Oblivion by David Dawson, Prospero Insel by Bridget Breiner, and Ring them Bells by Marco Goecke.
From 2019 to 2023, I was with Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, where I continued to dive into a variety of roles. I performed in Always/Only and Petit Poem by Kevin O’Day, The Suit by Cathy Marston, and Voluntaries by Glen Tetley. I also worked on productions such as Blessed Unrest by my former director Bridget Breiner, Elementary Particles by Marguerite Donlon, and Deviations by Stina Quagebeur.
Freelance Projects
Alongside my work with dance companies, I’ve been involved in freelance projects that have allowed me to explore different aspects of dance and performance. These projects have included collaborations with jazz musicians, VR cross-over performances, and artistic endeavors that blend dance with other forms of expression. In recent years, I’ve also started choreographing, bringing my own ideas to the stage.
For instance, I worked on “Lack of Vocabulary”, created for Zukunft Choreographie at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe in 2021, in collaboration with Paul Calderone and Emiel Vandenberghe, for which I also designed the set. In 2022, I participated in “I Carry Your Heart”, an artistic performance collaboration at the Orangerie Schloss Benrath, Düsseldorf, organized by Yvonne Schweidtmann, where Paul Calderone and I choreographed and performed a dance piece together.
In 2023, I created “What Have We Got?” for Zukunft Choreographie at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe. Another project was “At Rise of Curtain”, a short film directed by Brecht Vanhoutte for Triënnale Brugge, with choreography and performance by Emiel Vandenberghe, Paul Calderone, and myself. More recently, in 2024, I was involved in “Brotherhood”, a dance performance collaboration at Weltkunstzimmer, Düsseldorf, organized by Yvonne Schweidtmann, with choreography and performance once again by Paul Calderone and me.
